Who said girl groups had their best time? Move over Gaga & PCD, because we have a new favourite subway music video! We know it’s been out for a while, but we don’t care cause it’s hardly a Britney video half the world has already seen.
When we first heard about a girl trio featuring a contestant from Rupaul’s Drag Race we thought ‘well, this might turn out to be so wrong it’s right’. Turns out we were wrong, cause the video for Party Girl is just all kinds of right.
Ever since Wannabe we’ve been big fans of ‘one take videos’. But where The Spice Girls still needed quite a few cuts, the Xelle video has one at most (2:45). Add to that that they filmed it on a riding train they hijacked while it was still in service, plus the fact these girls could teach a girl group or two how to play the camera, and have some of the most infectuous enthusiasm we’ve ever seen. The fact the blonde girl almost falls over a few times only adds to the video’s charm. Oh, and the song ain’t half bad either. ‘Call my bodyguards cause I’m on the A-list, keep talking trash cause you make me famous’ is one brilliant lyric. .
